MEDITATION
Meditation saved the meeting
12 minutes to recover from the "big
head"
I had just assumed my first leadership position, with
two teams to manage, each with different
objectives, different clients, places and everything. I was having a
hard time to deal with all that new information and things to do.
One day, a Friday, I had a 3.5 hour meeting in the
morning, and there would be another one with the other clients, at 4
o'clock. At 3, my head was “crowded” with a lot of subjects, things
to do and decisions to make, and the only thing I could think about was
that if I stayed that way, it would be very difficult to finish that day
and, worst, something wrong could happen in the second meeting. “I
have to do something”, I thought.
I remembered the attentive
meditation and decided to try it. I went a little early to the place
of the second meeting, parked the car and started to pay attention to my
breathing. So I stayed for up to 10 minutes, plus 2 or 3 trying nothing.
When I got out of the car, I almost couldn’t
believe: my mind was almost normal and I had recovered, I estimated,
about 90% in 12 minutes. The meeting and the rest of the day were saved
and safe.
